Q: My mother, who is 52 is on Cobra Insurance after her and my father were divorced. She works full time in a small doctor's office and is not insured through them, so she is on Cobra currently. She has a bulging disc in her back and may be out of work several weeks when she gets it fixed. Does Cobra have short term disability coverage to help her?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of health insurance or any benefit that is considered "Medical Care".  This would include dental, vision and prescription drugs.  Group life insurance and disability insurance are not subject to COBRA law.
