Q:  My previous employer refuses to send me cobra material. It's been over 60 days what do I do?

A:  If your previous employer has more than 20 employees and you were on the group health insurance before you left, you are eligible for COBRA continuation.  Your employer is legally responsible for sending you the COBRA packet within 45 days from your last day of work or the last day of your group benefits.    You should contact the US Department of Labor at 1-866-487-2365 because they regulate the COBRA law and make sure that all employers comply.  If your employer did not send you the election form for COBRA continuation they can be fined and severely penalized.
