Q:  My divorce settlement decrees that I am to pay our children's (2) insurance as long as it is a "benefit of my employment." However, I resigned from my position as a teacher. Is COBRA considered a benefit?

A:  COBRA is a federal law that gives you the right to have insurance after you leave a job.  You should check with your lawyer, if COBRA is an option, you may be required to keep the insurance coverage for your children.
