Q: I am currently on my parents insurance, BCBS PPO. But I am pregnant and they are denying my claim because they do not cover dependent children who are pregnant. What should I do?
A:COBRA is a federal law that allows you to continue the employer's group health benefits when a qualifying event occurs. If you were eligible for COBRA, it would not cover the pregnancy because the group health plan did not have pregnancy benefits for a dependent. COBRA is a continuation of the same policy same benefits you had before the qualifying event. You may want to check with your state's department of insurance to see if they have a policy available for you.
