Q:My cobra was terminated as of Oct 31, 2007 and cannot get insurance. I’m applying for Georgia Assignment System and they want a certificate of creditable coverage, how do I go about getting that?
A:Your previous employer should send you a “Notice of Termination or Cancellation of Health Benefits” letter. This letter will state that your COBRA coverage has ended. You will then receive a Certificate of Creditable Coverage for the time you were on COBRA continuation. You need to contact your previous employer and let them know that you waiting for this certificate.
