Q:  If a Military Member who has to leave for 1, 2 or 3 weeks for Active Duty and works a civilian company; does this company force them to take Cobra Coverage during that week or weeks?  Most companies just charge an employee double or triple of their insurance costs when then return back to work. If you could please let me know what Cobra's Policies are regarding this type of situation.

A:  COBRA is a federal law that allows an employee and their dependents to keep health insurance under situations that would otherwise cause them to lose their group health insurance.  The employee would be responsible for 102% of the cost of the insurance.  The employee would be eligible for COBRA coverage if the employer removed him from the group health plan during the time he is on active duty.
