Q:    I needed to know specifically if I can have my child covered by COBRA even if I do not elect to be covered by COBRA

A:  COBRA law allows the employee to elect coverage for just his dependents as long as the dependents were on the policy before the qualifying event.  The employee does not have sign up for COBRA for himself to obtain COBRA coverage  for dependents.
