Q: I currently have COBRA. According to California law, I am able to extend my COBRA coverage to 36 months, which I need to do. Please let me know if I need to fill out any forms, etc., any things I need to do to make this happen.
A: Usually Cal-COBRA is available for residents of California that have group health insurance through a California employer and the plan is from California based insurance company. You will need to contact the California insurance department to see if you are eligible for Cal-COBRA and obtain the forms. The phone number for the California Department of insurance is 800-927-4357.
