Q:   If an employee loses coverage on his 67th birthday due to retirement on that date, is the spouses 36 month COBRA eligibility reduced due to the spouse's being over 65 at the loss of coverage?

A:  The employee  will no longer be eligible for COBRA once they become entitled to Medicare.  The COBRA coverage will end on the same day the Medicare benefits start.  If the spouse is under 65 and not entitled to Medicare they can remain on COBRA for a maximum 36 months.
