Q:  My Daughter went to the doctor a couple times during the time we had COBRA but she gave them my previous employer’s medical card. Can I still file a claim?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of your previous employer health insurance plan. If the doctor visits occurred during the COBRA election period you will need to re-submit them.  COBRA is the same policy that you had when you were employed. There is no change to the benefits, it all remains the same.  You would file the claims the same way you did before and send them to the same address.  You should ask the provider to re-file the claims directly to the insurance company.  If the claims still get denied, you should contact your previous employer who provided you with COBRA.
