Q: My mom was on Cobra for 18 months following a permanet layoff. She has a new job with health insurance coverage. Would she be eligible for another 18 months of Cobra coverage should she leave this job?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of your previous employer's group plan. There is no limit to how many times a person can sign up for COBRA.  Each job you leave with more than 20 employees, the employer has to offer COBRA continuation for up to 18 months.
