Q:  My husband’s termination date was Dec 31st   On Jan 1st the hospital at which he was employed switched insurance plans. Is our cobra coverage going to be through the old plan that we were insured with or the new plan?

A:  Your coverage will change when the group health plan offered to you by the employer has changed. Your COBRA continuation will be through the new plan.  Your previous employer must provide you with new insurance ID cards and a Summary of Plan Descriptions that details the new plan’s benefits.
