Q:  My former employer never got my insurance forms turned it for enrollment of the insurance they offered. Since then I have gave notice and now my employer wants me to sign a statement saying that I refuse COBRA. I have refused to sign anything regarding any insurance but don't know my rights regarding this situation. Can you help?

A: Your employer can not force you to sign away your COBRA rights. You should contact the US Department of Labor's Employees Benefits Security Administration office.  Their phone number is 1-866-444-3272. You can also reach them on their website www.dol.gov/ebsa
