Q: If my new insurance, through my new job, requires continuous coverage, will this a temporary policy, already applied for and paid be accepted in place of Cobra?
A: Our COBRA alternative temporary health insurance plans are considered “Creditable Coverage”. We are required to furnish a certificate of coverage to an individual to provide documentation of the individual's prior creditable coverage. Under HIPAA, an employee's former group health plan and any insurance company or HMO providing such coverage is to provide required the employee with a statement of prior health coverage, commonly referred to as a certificate of creditable coverage. We are required to furnish a certificate of coverage to an individual to provide documentation of the individual's prior creditable coverage.
