A: The health plan that last 6 months that you are referring to is a COBRA Alternative. Our COBRA alternative rates are more affordable than the COBRA you get through your employer. . If you need coverage for longer than 6 months, you should consider the 12 month plan. If you live in a state where the 12 month plan is not available, you would need to re-apply.
Employers that have more than 20 employees are subject to COBRA laws. They have to offer an employee continuation of their group health plan when a qualifying event occurs. COBRA continuation through the employer is the same benefits, same coverages you had prior to the qualifying event.
