Delaware’s Mini-COBRA Law
Delaware’s mini-COBRA law provides continuation coverage for employees who have left a company with 2-19 employees. This law requires the former employer to offer COBRA-like coverage to employees who would otherwise lose their health insurance after leaving the company.
The coverage is similar to COBRA, but the employer is responsible for paying the entire premium instead of splitting the cost with the employee, as is the case with federal COBRA.
The mini-COBRA law aims to provide employees with affordable health insurance options and to ensure that small employers in Delaware are able to provide their former employees with continued coverage.
The duration of mini-COBRA in Delaware is 9 months.
